Curtis Stearns, III – Mobile, AL
Curtis Stearns, III, a long-time resident of Mobile, Alabama, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 4th, 2023, with his loving wife, Linda, by his side. He was 67.
Curtis was born in Montgomery, Alabama on January 7th in 1955 where he grew up. He moved to Mobile later as an adult and spent his remaining years here. His lifelong profession was that of a dental technician and he loved his job. He had worked at several labs throughout his career, with the most recent one being Oral Arts.
Although he didn’t read music and had no formal training, Curtis had the gift of playing by ear. He played guitar and sang both lead and backup vocals. He played in various bands throughout his life, starting with garage bands as a teenager, then progressing to playing the local scenes, including parties, balls, wedding receptions, etc. Over the last several years of his life he chose to only play in church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Curtis Stearns, Jr and Peggy Grier Stearns McCarron and stepfather, George McCarron. He is survived by his wife, Linda Stearns; five children: Trever, Joshua (Chastity), J.R.(Karla), Gelal (Jennifer), and Mila (Andrew); two sisters, Debra (Ray) Adams and Tammy (Kevin) Anderson, and 10 grandchildren Natalie, Chevy, Kianna, Landon, Mason, Samirah, Harper, Adeline, Elijah, and Chloe. His grandchildren gave him great joy and he tried to spend as much time with them as possible. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
There will be a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at West Mobile Baptist Church. There will be no gravesite, therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that you please donate to West Mobile Baptist Church at 7501 Airport Blvd. Mobile, AL 36608 or to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at 230 East Ohio St., Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611.
